As summer approaches, many parts of the country are experiencing high temperatures, which also brings a series of management problems to many poultry farms. Among them, heatstroke is the most concerned issue for most farm managers, especially for some non-standard farms. Due to the difficulty in controlling the temperature and humidity inside the house and the large changes in the external environment, heatstroke in laying hens is more likely to occur. Due to the special symptoms and lesions of heatstroke, it is often misdiagnosed as other diseases, ultimately causing significant economic losses& nbsp;
1、 Symptoms of heatstroke in laying hens
Sick chickens stop eating, drink more water, squat, and become mentally depressed; Breathing through the mouth, cyanosis of the cockscomb, and a burning sensation when touched due to elevated body temperature; Anal flushing; Decreased feed intake and egg production rate.
2、 Pathological changes of heatstroke in laying hens
Part of the chicken crop is filled with water, which can flow out when lifted upside down, some chicken crop is filled with gas, and some chicken crop has no contents; The muscles appear slightly pale; Bleeding spots on the inner wall of the chest cavity; Coronary fat spotting and myocardial bleeding; Varying degrees of pulmonary edema; The liver is fragile; External fat of the muscle stomach and abdominal fat bleeding points; Follicle congestion and liquefaction.
3、 Treatment
1. Strengthen ventilation: In areas with high humidity, it is even more important to pay attention to adjusting the wind speed. When the wind speed is the same, the higher the humidity, the higher the perceived temperature of the chickens, and the chicken flock is more prone to heatstroke. Therefore, when using sprinkler cooling methods in some chicken coops with incomplete facilities, attention should also be paid to increasing the wind speed.
2. Feeding management: Properly increase the content of crude protein in feed and reduce the content of energy feed. Energy feed such as corn and oil will be converted faster and produce more calories after being consumed by chicken flocks; Adjust the feeding time, set the feeding time in the morning and evening, and also turn on the lights for half an hour to increase feeding after the temperature drops at night.
3. Application medication: Add vitamin C to drinking water (200g+per ton of water) to enhance the stress resistance and antioxidant capacity of chicken flocks; Apply baking soda (0.2-0.3%) to alleviate respiratory alkalosis commonly associated with heatstroke in chicken flocks; Add heatstroke relieving drugs such as Huoxiang Zhengqi Liquid to drinking water.
