Avian Influenza
1. Spain Reports 1 HPAI H5N1 Outbreak in Wild Birds and 1 in Poultry
On September 1 and 5, Spain reported one HPAI H5N1 outbreak in wild birds and one in poultry in two regions, including the Basque Country. One wild bird and 8,200 poultry were infected and died.
2. Norway Reports 6 HPAI H5N1 Outbreaks in Wild Birds
On September 2 and 3, Norway reported six HPAI H5N1 outbreaks in wild birds in two regions, including Nordland County. Six wild birds were infected and died.
3. Norway Reports 2 HPAI H5 Outbreaks in Wild Birds
On September 2, Norway reported two HPAI H5 outbreaks in wild birds in Nordland County. Three wild birds were infected and died.
4. South Africa Reports 3 HPAI H5N1 Outbreaks in Poultry and 3 in Wild Birds
On September 2, South Africa reported three HPAI H5N1 outbreaks in poultry and three in wild birds in two regions, including the Eastern Cape. A total of 373 poultry were infected and died, 15,000 were culled, and 13 wild birds were infected and died.
5. Bolivia Reports 1 HPAI H5 Outbreak in Wild Birds
On September 3, Bolivia reported one HPAI H5 outbreak in wild birds in Santa Cruz Province. Eight backyard poultry were infected and died, and 41 were culled.
6. Germany Reports 1 HPAI H5N1 Outbreak in Poultry and 2 in Wild Birds
On September 3 and 5, Germany reported one HPAI H5N1 outbreak in poultry and two in wild birds in two regions, including Schleswig-Holstein. A total of 150 poultry were infected, 100 died, 2,700 were culled, and two wild birds were infected and died.
7. Portugal Reports 1 HPAI H5N1 Outbreak in Poultry
On September 3, Portugal reported one HPAI H5N1 outbreak in poultry in Santarém District. A total of 24,000 poultry were infected, 1,011 died, and 257,000 were culled.
8. The Netherlands Reports 3 HPAI H5N1 Outbreaks in Wild Birds
On September 3, the Netherlands reported three HPAI H5N1 outbreaks in wild birds in two provinces, including Zeeland. Three wild birds were infected and died.
9. Argentina Reports 1 HPAI H5N1 Outbreak in Wild Birds
On September 4, Argentina reported one HPAI H5N1 outbreak in wild birds in Entre Ríos Province. Eighteen backyard poultry were infected and died, and two were culled.
10. The United Kingdom Reports 1 HPAI H5N1 Outbreak in Wild Birds
On September 5, the United Kingdom reported one HPAI H5N1 outbreak in wild birds in England. Ten backyard poultry were infected, eight died, and 19 were culled.

Malaysia Reports 6 Rabies Outbreaks
On September 3, Malaysia reported six rabies outbreaks in Sarawak State, resulting in the infection and death of six domestic dogs.
